Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is not the sort of guy to bite his tongue.
But Andreas Skov Olsen doesn’t need telling that his form, since moving to Italy in a £5 million deal from Nordsjaelland two-and-a-half years ago, has not been up to scratch.
Thus far, Skov Olsen has scored just three times in 67 Serie A games – and none at all this season.
Needless to say, that is a far cry from the remarkable goalscoring record that earned the Denmark international his move to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in the first place.
“It’s not secret that I’m not in the best situation at Bologna,” Skov Olsen admitted last month. “It’s not going too well down there, but I need to go back and work hard.”
“When I had my chances in attack, I should have scored more. I’m a bit disappointed in myself,” the 21-year-old added a few weeks later, via Il Resto del Carlino.
Can Rangers get Skov Olsen scoring again?
So a word of warning to Rangers.
If Skov Olsen moves to Ibrox in January, as Il Resto del Carlino suggest, there will be a very good reason why Bologna were willing to let him go.
His form is poor, his confidence even worse, with that 26-goal breakthrough season at Nordsjaelland back in 2018/19 feeling like lightyears away.

Of course, if Giovanni van Bronckhorst can instil some self-belief back into Skov Olsen’s game, the one-time Everton and Tottenham target could be a transformative addition for a Rangers side who, despite scoring more goals than anyone else in the Premiership (38), have looked a little laboured in attack at times.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and all that.
According to reports coming out of Italy today, Mihajlovic is open to sending Skov Olsen out on loan in the New Year.
Sunday’s ineffective performance in the 2-1 defeat to, Il Resto believe, may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
