Kevin Hatchard says ‘it doesn’t make much sense’ for Real Madrid to allow Eduardo Camavinga to leave for Arsenal during the January transfer window even if he does fit Mikel Arteta’s side.
The European football expert pointed out that Carlo Ancelotti’s men are fighting on all fronts this season, including trying to chase down Barcelona in La Liga, as well as defend their European Cup.
Their 20-year-old midfield superstar might not be a regular starter at the current champions of Spain, but he is still a key figure for the club.
Arsenal have added Leandro Trossard to their forward areas this month, as well as centre-back Jakub Kiwior.
But the key area, and it’s lack of depth, that worries fans is the middle of the park, that’s why Mikel Arteta is keen on Real Madrid’s 20-year-old star.
European football expert Kevin Hatchard explained why that’s a long shot for the Gunners, even if they are sitting at the top of the Premier League table, as he told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports.
“I think he would fit in,” said Hatchard. “He’s an immensely talented player, but it doesn’t ring true to me because Real Madrid need depth in that midfield area.
“They brought him in for a reason. I can’t see Carlo Ancelotti signing off on that. It doesn’t make sense for Real Madrid when they are fighting for La Liga and the Champions League. Why would you let a player like that go?
“Especially because the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, as important as they still are, aren’t getting any younger. They are coming towards the end of their careers, so maybe, more likely to pick up injuries or be in need of a rest. But Modric seems determined that he doesn’t ever need a rest.
“I don’t think it makes much sense for Camavinga. It doesn’t make much sense for Real Madrid.”
ARSENAL NEED THAT MIDFIELDER
If Arsenal are ever going to push the boat out, then now is the time to do it because they are sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
Trossard might have been on the pitch for only ten minutes on his Premier League debut for Arsenal on Sunday against Manchester United, but fans were pretty excited by what he showed.
That’s the Belgium international adding a little more lift and spice to proceedings and that midfielder, whilst it won’t be Camavinga, would also provide that.
