Darren Ambrose has claimed that he ‘can’t see’ ex-Liverpool forward, Raheem Sterling, swapping Manchester City colours for Manchester United, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Premier League midfielder added that ‘everybody’ should be looking to sign Sterling this summer, with Chelsea seemingly leading the race for his signature.

Back in 2015, Sterling made a controversial £49 million move from Liverpool to Manchester City (BBC Sport), which still hasn’t sat well with those at Anfield.

The Champions League has alluded the England international, but he has won numerous Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup trophies, as he now questions the next stage of his career.

When it was put forward that Erik ten Hag should possibly be looking at Sterling, whilst Ambrose thinks he would improve them, he just can’t see the player himself making such a move.

“If he’s moving, then everybody should be looking at him,” said Ambrose. “He’s a very, very good footballer player. He would improve all squads, so Manchester United should be looking at him.

“But I don’t think he goes there. Just for the mere fact that he has been in Manchester City for a long time and Liverpool.

“He’s underappreciated but is still loved by a lot of Manchester City supporters. So, I can’t see him going from Liverpool to Manchester City to Manchester United.”

BIG MORE FOR RAHEEM

Even though Sterling has scored over 100 Premier League goals and has multiple Premier League titles to his name, he still has those question marks over his head about whether he is an elite player.

Well, this next move might either shut critics up or prove that people were right to question his possible world-class status.

At the Etihad, regardless of whether Sterling is there or not, Pep Guardiola is putting trophy after trophy after trophy on the table for the club.

But if one of his star players could possibly upset the odds elsewhere, then it would bode well for his status and how he is perceived in the game.
