Chelsea are reportedly working on a new proposal to sign Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, with the Premier League champions now open to selling the England international for £45m.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are preparing a fresh offer for the attacker as Chelsea look to sign a new talisman for their forward line, with CBS Soccer further reporting that City will now accept an offer of £45m despite previous reports that Sterling can only leave for £60m.

Following the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, Sterling is set to depart the Etihad this summer after an immense career with the Manchester giants, with the 2015 £49m signing winning four Premier League titles since joining from Liverpool.

With 17 goals in all competitions last season and Sterling a key member for Pep Guardiola’s side, Txiki Begiristain is taking a risk lowering the asking price for the England international, especially with Chelsea keen on signing the 27-year-old who could change the Blues’ fortunes in the attack.

As per the Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking to completely overhaul their attack this summer following the failure of the Romelu Lukaku deal last year, with Sterling and Ousmane Dembele both being eyed as potential recruits as Todd Boehly looks to add his authority over the west London side.

And signing Sterling from City could be an excellent move for Chelsea, with the Brent-born attacker one of the best forwards in the Premier League and capable of playing a starring role for any side in the divison, much to the dismay of the reigning English champions.

City have arguably won the transfer window already this summer with the signing of Haaland, and whilst selling Sterling makes a lot of sense, Chelsea winning the race for the forward could backfire in a big way for the Manchester giants if they are to retain the Premier League title.

Indeed, we all know what Sterling is capable of, and if Chelsea sign the England star, the Blues have one Europe’s best wingers on their books at the cost of their rivals weakening their attacking group, something that could have a major role on the title race next season.
