Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube Channel, Barry Ferguson has waxed lyrical about Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor after the Old Firm derby.
McGregor kept yet another clean sheet against Celtic, and he made a save right out of the top drawer to keep out Celtic forward Leigh Griffiths.
Ferguson was discussing that save in particular from Griffiths, before going on to speak more generally about McGregor.
“He’s a real class goalkeeper, that’s what Leigh Griffiths said after the game,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson was then asked if McGregor is the best goalkeeper he’s ever played with, and he was quite adamant that he was.
“Allan McGregor? By a country mile, he’s getting better as well.”
The host of the show then asked him if he was better than Stefan Klos, to which Ferguson replied:
“Yeah, all-round.”
The conversation then moved on slightly, before Ferguson went on to comment about another of McGregor’s fantastic saves.
“See the Edouard one, I know it got called offside, but his reaction to it. He won Rangers the game.”

It’s hard to really argue with Ferguson’s view here.
Stefan Klos is obviously a Rangers legend in his own right, but let’s be fair, McGregor has conceded just three goals in 13 league appearances this season, and that’s at the age of 38.
In fact, the goalkeeper turns 39 at the end of this month, and Ferguson somehow reckons he’s still getting better, which isn’t a claim we’re going to argue against as McGregor is putting one of the best seasons of his career, and Ferguson isn’t the only ex-Rangers star to speak about the goalie in this way.
Who knows where Rangers would be without their goalkeeper, but it’s fair to say that they wouldn’t have a 19-point gap at the top of the table without the former Hull City man to call upon.
