David Moyes believes Jarrod Bowen is thriving in the West Ham United attack this term so far as he returned for pre-season training in great condition, via quotes by football.london.

Bowen is enjoying his best Premier League season for assists since moving to east London from Hull in January 2020. The £22m former Tigers star has offered nine assists over his 19 appearances this term. He only had nine assists in his prior 51 games in claret-and-blue.

Only Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah (9) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (8) have created more form open play, too. Two of Bowen’s registered assists have come from winning penalties.

Bowen also scoring three goals is enough for the West Ham winger to rank third across the division for his goal contributions. Only Salah (15 goals, 9 assists) and Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis (8 goals, 5 assists) have contributed to more so far.

Moyes pinpoints moment behind West Ham star’s strong form

Moyes pinpoints Bowen returning for pre-season training in great condition as the moment behind the West Ham dynamo’s stellar form. The Scot also notes how the 25-year-old has now had 23-months to adapt to the Premier League from the Championship.

“He’s had time to adapt to the Premier League,” Moyes explains. “A lot of players need time to get used to it. He came back in really good condition this summer.

“Of all the players, he was the one who hit the ground running. He’s hit a dip at times, but has hit a level of consistency to keep getting assists and goals.”

Bowen played in seven Premier League fixtures with Hull for 177-minutes midway through the 2016/17 season before their relegation. He failed to create for the Tigers, but excelled with 52 goals and 14 assists in 117 Championship appearances.

The Leominster-born forward’s best return for assists came in his final half-season at the MKM Stadium in 2019/20, too. He offered seven and 16 goals in his final 29 second-tier outings.

Moyes will hope Bowen now continues his rich vein of form and adds more goals to his West Ham record.
