Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Eddie Nketiah after his impressive display in the League Cup against Leeds United.
Speaking to the press via Football London, the Basque coach was happy with what he saw from the Hale End academy graduate against Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Nketiah scored the second and decisive goal of the evening as the striker.
Moreover, it was an impressive goal from Nketiah as the striker did well to beat Illan Meslier with an audacious touch to secure Arsenal’s progression to the League Cup quarter-finals.
Indeed, the goal and overall performance once again brought light on the future of Nketiah at Arsenal. The £45,000-a-week forward will be a free agent next summer. And reports suggest the attacker could leave north London for good.
Yet from Arteta’s tone, the Arsenal boss is a big fan of Nketiah following his display in the League Cup. And the coach was delighted with what he saw.
Arteta said about Nketiah’s League Cup performance: “I have no doubt over what he can offer. Whatever you throw at him, he wants more. I’m happy to see the performance he had, because he totally deserved it.”
Nketiah’s future must be decided after League Cup heroics

With the Gunners having the likes of Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli on their books, Nketiah’s future with Arsenal looks likely to end in the coming months. And the club need to act fast on a decision.
With the striker catching the eyeballs of supporters this week in the League Cup, Nketiah could well be on the radars for some clubs heading into January as a potential bargain signing.
