In our view, it is very easy for Newcastle to think short-term with Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi at the helm.
When they first arrived with their almost limitless resources, names such as Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane were being mentioned as potential transfer targets.
However, the pair have seemingly adopted a more long-term approach, by signing players who can make an impact now, but are set to become European stars in a few years, such as Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes.
Now, that long-term approach is evident once again, with plans to sign Santos wonderkid Angelo Gabriel.
What’s the story?
Well, it has been said that Steve Nickson travelled to Brazil to watch the 17-year-old prodigy in action, before speaking to Santos about a fee.
Newcastle also spoke to Marisa Alija last month, who represents Angelo Gabriel, to see how much it would take to lure him away from Santos.
Interestingly, Betinho – the teenager’s old coach – has compared the South American sensation to Neymar.

When likening him to the £200m Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Betinho told Goal: “He is like Neymar in terms of his dribbling at speed and his change of direction.”
Now, if that doesn’t make Newcastle fans desperate to sign Angelo Gabriel, we don’t know what will.
Newcastle & Angelo Gabriel links are very encouraging
If we supported Newcastle, we’d be very pleased by links to Angelo Gabriel for one reason.
Targeting 17-year-old players of this calibre proves that Staveley and Ghodoussi want to ensure the very best are playing for Newcastle, even long after the duo may have left St James’ Park.

In a way, signing gems like Angelo Gabriel will future-proof Newcastle, so the Magpies have a conveyor belt of talent coming through to keep things fresh in the first-team.
To put it simply, these are very exciting times for the Toon Army.
