Martin Odegaard has tipped Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for big things in football following the Gunners’ success this season.

Speaking in an interview with TV2, the playmaker lauded the Basque coach for his qualities on the touchline as Arteta has made Odegaard a key player for Arsenal this season following his move from Real Madrid to north London.

The 23-year-old was on the scoresheet today as the Gunners claimed a massive 3-2 win against Watford this afternoon, with fellow youngsters Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli also bagging goals against the Hornets.

Odegaard has become a focal point for Arsenal’s system under Arteta, and the playmaker has predicted big things for his manager after finally getting his ideas and philosophy across after three seasons at the club.

Arteta has gone through much scrutiny by Arsenal fans and pundits for a run of bad results in previous seasons, yet the 39-year-old has finally got things right with the Gunners, and Odegaard predicts the former Manchester City coach to go far in his career.

Odegaard said: “I absolutely think he has all the qualities he needs. He is already a top manager, and I think he will be for many years to come. He is young, just like our team, and will only get better. I think we will see a lot of him in the future.”

Arteta’s plan for Arsenal is slowly coming together with the north London side firmly in the driving seat for top-four and looking set for a return to European football after missing out on it last season.

And youth has been key to this change for the club, with Arsenal having the youngest squad in the Premier League and the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli playing starring roles in a system Arteta has allowed to thrive.
