Richard Keys says Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United transfer target Harry Maguire ‘doesn’t want to leave’ Manchester United as he told the Champions League club to ‘settle his contract’.

The fact that Harry Maguire has been stripped of the captain’s armband, then it hints towards Erik ten Hag not seeing the 30-year-old as part of his first-team plans at Old Trafford heading into the new Premier League campaign.

But Maguire’s current contract runs until 2025, and if Manchester United want him out, then presenter Richard Keys has posted on Twitter that they should ‘settle his contract’ because ‘loyalty works both ways’.

After selling Declan Rice, West Ham United are now in the hunt to enhance their squad, with a recent £20 million bid for the England defender being rejected.

But they aren’t the only London team keen on his talents, with Ange Postecoglou in need of centre-backs at Tottenham this summer, they also want to bring Maguire on board.

Given all that drama, Keys shared his thoughts on the matter and he sent this pretty blunt message.

“If Utd want Maguire out they’ll have to settle his contract,” said Keys.

“He hasn’t asked to leave. He’s been a model pro despite all the set-backs never causing trouble. Loyalty works both ways. If clubs want it – they must also show it.”

Maguire will probably end up staying

If the player himself isn’t pushing to move and the interested parties aren’t willing to put the money Man United want, then he will probably end up staying.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if, during the final days of the transfer window, bids are being submitted.

But even in this current situation, Maguire’s England place isn’t under threat. If that changes, then he is running out of Old Trafford before you know it.
