Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been speaking about Nuno Tavares after his recent string of performances for Arsenal.

The full-back has come in to the starting XI in place of Kieran Tierney in recent weeks, and it’s fair to say that he’s made the most of his chance in the side.

Indeed, Tavares has been brilliant since coming into the team, and Wright wants to see him start against Manchester United, claiming that he’s excited to see his battle against Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

What’s been said about Tavares?

Wright was full of praise for the full-back.

“Tavares can do anything because he’s chaos. He can go inside, he can go left, he can go right and I’m looking forward to seeing him against Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka is hench in respects to stopping people, but this guy can go left and go right, he causes problems, he causes so many problems, there’s so much to be excited about with Tavares at the moment,” Wright said.

Chaos

Wright is spot on about Tavares, he brings an element of unpredictability to this Arsenal team, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

It’s all well and good for Arteta’s side to play this short passing style with immaculate patterns based around an intricate system, but every now and then you just have to be a bit of a maverick.

That’s what Tavares brings, he’s can cross from deep or he can run at a full-back, and at the moment, he’s full of confidence.

Don’t be too surprised if the Portuguese defender is decisive against United at Old Trafford.
