Peter Crouch says Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane won’t be joining Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea this summer.
The England captain has a massive transfer cloud hanging over his head this summer, with his current Tottenham deal to expire next summer and many questioning what he is going to do with his future.
The chance to go to Manchester City is ‘off the table now’, according to Crouch, who added that Harry Kane ‘can’t’ even join Arsenal, nor does he think he can make that switch to Chelsea, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (22/06/23 at 8:40 am).
If it wasn’t for a certain Erling Haaland going goal-crazy and breaking all sorts of records during his debut season in the Premier League, then Kane’s recent season would have a lot more glow to it.
The 29-year-old, in a defensive-minded and declining Spurs team, managed to hit an incredible 30 league goals, as well as become his club’s all-time leading goalscorer by surpassing the late great, Jimmy Greaves.
But has he already kicked his final ball for Spurs? Crouch was asked about his future, as he ruled out two teams straight off the bat.
“I think this is a difficult one,” said Crouch. “The place he should have gone to is Manchester City. That’s off the table now. That’s where he wanted to go. I don’t think that’s a secret.
“If he wants to break the record in the Premier League, then where else will he go? He can’t go to Arsenal, with Chelsea, I don’t think he can make that switch really.”

Whether he is donning the colours of Tottenham or his country, there is nothing stopping the 29-year-old from hitting the back of the net again and again.
After adding to his England tally again during recent Euro 2024 qualifiers, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw called his teammate ‘world-class’, as he joked that he is trying to persuade Kane to make a switch to Old Trafford.
There is talk of Manchester United possibly being taken over by Qataris, in truth, it’s not clear whether it’s close, way off the mark or somewhere in between.
But you can bet your bottom dollar, or in this case, Qatari Riyal, that if there is a Middle Eastern buyer sitting at the top of the tree at Old Trafford before the summer transfer window slams shut, then Daniel Levy will be getting a loud bang on the door.
