Real Madrid reportedly want to meet Tottenham to reduce the buyback clause for Sergio Reguilon the Spanish giants currently have.
According to Defensa Central, Madrid are eager to reduce the valuation of the buyback clause in Reguilon’s contract with the north London side. The defender joined Tottenham last summer for a reported fee of £32m.
However, as part of the deal, Spurs agreed to implement a buyback clause that Madrid can activate at any time. However, Los Blancos believe that Reguilon has not developed enough to warrant the fee that is currently in the defender’s contract.
As per Defensa Central, the current buyback clause stands at €40m (£34m). And whilst Reguilon has done well with Spurs, the Spanish international has hardly performed to a level that would command such a transfer fee.
Indeed, Madrid asking to negotiate down the buyback clause is an optimistic approach to take. After all, not many clubs would agree to such a proposition where they could get less money for a player with potential.
Tottenham fans laugh off Madrid’s attempt to bring down Reguilon buyback clause

With Tottenham owned by Daniel Levy, it’s pretty easy which direction this move from Madrid is going to go down. The Spurs chairman is one of the toughest people to deal with in football.
And on social media, Tottenham fans couldn’t believe Madrid actually think they can negotiate a lower fee. Here’s what some had to say on Twitter…
