Leeds United have made an “offer” for Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa, the Bundesliga star’s agent has told Sportske Novosti.
While much of the credit has gone to Sasa Kalajdzic during Stuttgart’s impressive first season back in Germany’s top flight, the 6ft 7in centre-forward wouldn’t have found the net anywhere near as often if it wasn’t for his Croatian teammate.
With ten assists in 24 matches, Sosa is one of the most prolific assist-machines in the Bundesliga.
His trademark move is shifting the ball out of his feet and whipping an inch-perfect delivery on to Kalajdzic’s head. There’s a reason why Sosa has been compared to arguably the greatest crosser of a ball in modern football.
“Borna’s said himself David Beckham is his role model and I think he has the same qualities,” Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat told BILD.
“He puts in crosses from every angle – sometimes chipped, sometimes drilled, sometimes flat, sometimes in behind, sometimes to the front post, other times to the back post. His left foot is a real weapon.”
A weapon Marcelo Bielsa will put to good use next season?
It’s no secret Leeds are in the market for an attack-minded left-back and Sosa, it seems, has joined Romain Perraud, Nicolas Tagliafico, Alex Moreno and Miguel Gutierrez on the club’s summer wish-list.
“The most important thing for him is to make a transfer to England because he has an offer from Leeds United. Some other clubs from the Premier League are also interested,” says Sosa’s agent Franjo Vranjkovic.

“Only the English can pay as much as Stuttgart is asking because I estimate it will be about €20 million (£18 million).”
Sosa has recently been denied the chance to switch his allegiance to Germany ahead of Euro 2020 and Vranjkovic adds that, because his lack of caps for the Croatia national team, a move to England – in the post-Brexit era – is far from certain.
“To make a transfer to England, since it is no longer in the EU, he must have appearances for the Croatian A national team. That’s why he was so impatient and asked (Croatia coach Zlatko) Dalic to call him as soon as possible,” the agent explains.
