Celtic legend John Hartson believes Leigh Griffiths will grab Saturday’s Old Firm derby against Rangers by the scruff of its neck – just like he used to.
John Hartson – Celtic celebrates
Former Celtic striker John Hartson has revealed that he will be watching Saturday’s Old Firm derby against Rangers expecting big things from Hoops forward Leigh Griffiths at Celtic Park.
Griffiths has been in fine form, scoring seven goals already this season, and Hartson believes the current Hoops forward can emulate the sort of impact he had on the derby during his time at the club.

The former Welsh international bagged nine goals against Rangers during his time at Celtic Park and now Griffiths is looking to make a goalscoring impact in the first league match between the sides since the Gers’ 2012 re-formation.
The 26-year-old does have one Glasgow derby goal to his name however, as he netted in the 2-0 Scottish League Cup semi-final victory in 2015.

And Hartson expects that record to be extended this weekend, as he told The Scottish Daily Mail: “In big games like the weekend — that’s a Leigh Griffiths game.
“That’s a John Hartson game if you like. Big players decide those games.”
Griffiths had been a fitness doubt after withdrawing from the Scotland national side but now looks set to start as the Hoops eye a win that would take them four points clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand.
