Celtic have been handed a big fitness boost ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm derby clash with Rangers as Scottish international duo Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney are set to start, reports the print edition of the Sunday Mail.

Both players have featured in nine of the Hoops’ 10 matches so far this season and have been instrumental, with Griffiths bagging seven goals already.

But the Scottish striker has recently been nursing a hamstring injury which forced him to withdraw for the international squad for the 5-1 victory in Malta on Sunday.

Young full-back Tierney has also been a fitness concern after returning early from international duty but now the pair are in line to be in the starting 11 for the landmark Old Firm clash against Rangers.

It will be the first League clash since Rangers’ 2012 liquidation, relegation and subsequent reformation, although many Celtic fans mockingly insist the club that they will be facing at Celtic Park this Saturday is not the same one they faced back in 2012.

Regardless of the technicalities, you can be sure that the atmosphere at Parkhead will be electric and Hoops fans will be feeling even more confident given two of their brightest talents are due to return to fitness just in time.
