Leeds United’s season got off to a dismal start with a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United – and Harry Maguire was absolutely loving it.

If anybody in the United side was going to revel in hammering Leeds on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, it was going to be Maguire.

Maguire was born in Sheffield and came up through the ranks with Sheffield United, meaning he will have likely held something of a personal rivalry with Leeds even long after leaving Bramall Lane.

Now with Manchester United, Maguire can properly renew his battle with the Whites, and that happened on Saturday.

Sure, Maguire didn’t end the game with a clean sheet as Luke Ayling scored for Leeds, but this was Manchester United’s day.

Bruno Fernandes hit a hat-trick whilst Mason Greenwood and Fred also found the net in an absolute thumping at Old Trafford.

Last season, Maguire took to Twitter to post just four words following United’s thrashing of Leeds, tweeting ‘well that was fun’.

Maguire has now done exactly the same thing again, posting the same message as he celebrates another win over Leeds.

The defender would love for the Leeds hammering to become a regular occurrence, not just because he’s a Manchester United player, but also because of his Sheffield upbringing.
