Leeds United really took Sunday’s game to Manchester United; only problem is that they conceded six goals too.

The Whites were 2-0 down inside three minutes as Scott McTominay hit a brace, before Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof made it 4-0.

Liam Cooper got Leeds on the scoresheet, but Daniel James and a Fernandes penalty put United 6-1 up, with Stuart Dallas bagging a consolation late on.

Leeds never stopped attacking, leaving themselves open at the back against a fluid United counter-attacking setup, but that’s the risk and reward nature of Marcelo Bielsa’s tactics.

Despite Leeds earning plaudits for their style of play, the bottom line is that they lost against their bitter rivals, and the defeat was very, very heavy.

The Red Devils have bragging rights once again, and defender Harry Maguire took to Twitter to react to the performance.

Maguire offered just four words, stating ‘well that was fun’ as he revelled in hammering Leeds at Old Trafford.

The defender no doubt loved the win even more given his ties to Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United, and his brief Twitter message summed up his joy.
