Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire has highlighted the main reason why his side did not win against Leeds United at Elland Road today, as quoted on BBC Sport.

Leeds have played out a goalless draw with United at home in the Premier League today.

The first half was not particularly great, but things livened up after the break.

United star Maguire has said that the main reason why his side did not win today was because they lacked the edge in the final third.

BBC Sport quotes Maguire as saying: ”It was tight. We had control of the game without punishing them. We knew how they would play, our attacking players love a one v one but today it wasn’t to be.

“We kept them to a minimum, we were solid. We just couldn’t find that edge. The intensity was there, both teams were trying to play the right way.”

Match Stats

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Elland Road today, hosts Leeds had 44% of the possession, took six shots of which three were on target, and earned two corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors United had 56% of the possession, took 16 shots of which four were on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC Sport.

As the stats above show, United had chances, but Leeds were very good at the back and kept the Red Devils’ attackers at bay.

On the balance of play, a draw was probably a fair result.
