Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Manchester City should simply pay what Tottenham Hotspur want for Harry Kane.
The former Arsenal star believes that the current situation of Kane is hurting the striker, City and Spurs.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Premier League champions City should pay Tottenham what club chairman Daniel Levy is looking for.
The Times have reported that City are planning to make a bid of £120 million for Kane.
The Telegraph reported in July that Spurs chairman Levy values the striker at £160 million.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “It hurts Manchester City because they obviously need him too. They don’t have a single world class centre forward and the league is more competitive than ever.
“But it’s hurting Harry Kane too because his reputation is being dragged through the mud. People always pointed to him as this perfect role model. The family man who never parties or steps out of line. But then he doesn’t show up for training and the fans are on his back.
“City can get away with it this weekend because they’re only playing Norwich. But they won’t get away with it forever. They’ve got to stop messing about and pay the price.”

What should Manchester City do?
City need to sign a striker to replace the departed Sergio Aguero.
True, manager Pep Guardiola has Gabriel Jesus at his disposal, but the Brazil international striker reportedly wants to leave.
Ferran Torres has been deployed upfront, but he is not a natural striker.

Yes, £160 million for a 28-year-old is a lot of money, but Kane is one of the best strikers on the planet and is a world-class player.
Kane, who has scored 166 goals in 245 Premier League appearances in his career so far, would bang in the goals for fun at City.
If City are really keen on the England international striker, then they should get a deal sorted in the coming days.
If the Citizens leave it until the final days of the summer transfer window, then Tottenham are unlikely to sell, as the North London club would not have time to sign a suitable replacement.
