Owen Hargreaves has told The Mirror that he would love to see reported Newcastle United target Philippe Coutinho come back to the Premier League.

The former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder has added that Liverpool are missing a player like the Brazil international attacking midfielder.

Coutinho, who can also operate as a winger, was on the books of Liverpool from 2013 until 2018 when he moved to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old joined Bayern on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2019 and has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer.

Metropoles has reported of interest in Coutinho from Newcastle (click here to read more), and Hargreaves has raved about him.

Hargreaves told The Mirror about Coutinho: “I love his game, I love him as a player. He is obviously going though a bit of a tough time after leaving Liverpool.

“Barca didn’t work and Bayern hasn’t really worked, but there is still plenty of time and I would never count him out. I would love to see him back in the Premier League. He makes a lot of teams better.

“Premier League teams are probably the only ones with the capacity to sign him and, let’s be honest, when he was here he was a dream to watch.”

“If Liverpool are missing one thing it is probably a No10ish player. I know they probably don’t need him because that front three are so good as is the balance in midfield.”

Good signing for Newcastle United?

Coutinho may not have been great at Barcelona, but he remains a very creative player who is still only 27 years of age.

The Brazilian would be a blockbuster signing for Newcastle this summer and would make the Magpies a much better team than they are at the moment, although his agent Kia Joorabchian has played down talks of a summer move for the time being, as quoted on talkSPORT.

Football in England is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis.
