Interestingly, it was reported on Sunday that the Argentine was informed that he would not be offered the Spurs job.
But according to pundit Gus Poyet, it would be the safe and smart choice for Tottenham Hotspur to hire Mauricio Pochettino as their manager once again.

While some believe Pochettino’s know-how about Spurs could benefit them, others firmly state that a new direction is key for the club.
Amidst the uncertainty around the Tottenham manager job, pundit Gus Poyet has explained his verdict on Sky Sports via Football Daily.
“I think the simple call is Pochettino. I don’t know if Mauricio wants to go back. We talk about second chances or second opportunities but it’s an easy one. He knows the club, he knows the players, he knows the leaders, he knows what he wants, he knows the chairman. I think the fans, they love him.”
“Obviously, it’s not up to me to put Mauricio anywhere because he can have other opportunities as well but it will be easy. That’s an easy one.”

While many have scoffed at the thought of Mauricio Pochettino returning to N17 to become the new Tottenham manager, Gus Poyet is right in suggesting that appointing him would be an intelligent decision.
If any coach has shown an ability to thrive despite the lack of transfer support from their board, it is the ex-Southampton boss himself.
Sure, the current squad is not as talented as the one under Pochettino’s reign but there is no evidence to question his ability to make wine out of sewage water.
