Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all said to be keen on the 27-year-old.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has provided an update on the future of Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa, who was linked with a move to Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

Marca reported the trio were keen on Mesa, who has impressed for the Canary Islanders this season, scoring one goal and assisting three more in 24 league outings.

The 27-year-old has been tipped to break into Julen Lopetegui’s Spanish national team before long, so it’s perhaps no surprise that others are supposedly lurking.

According to Marca, Las Palmas are willing to discuss offers in excess of £8.75 million for Mesa, despite his contract, which runs until 2020, containing a buy-out clause of almost three times that amount (£26 million).

But when about the veracity of those reports linking Mesa with a move to England, Balague told the official Twitter account of his Sky Sports show Revista de la Liga: “I’m not aware of any potential move. Would Roque Mesa want to move to the Premier League? Of course he would.”

Both Everton and Tottenham have been linked with moves for more offensive-minded midfielders this week, with the name of Toffees star Ross Barkley resurfacing in connection with Spurs.

With both clubs seemingly well-stocked in Mesa’s position, Liverpool are perhaps the most likely of the trio to bid for the Gran Canaria native.

Reds midfielder Lucas Leiva is expected to leave Anfield at the end of his contract this summer, while doubts remain over the future of another, Emre Can.

Would Mesa be a good signing for Everton/Liverpool/Tottenham Hotspur?
