Despite Man City coming back in champions’ fashion to beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2, Pep Guardiola has questioned whether his side can chase the 8-point gap set by Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
The Spanish manager was doubtful, considering the back-to-back Premier League champions have seen their levels drop this season.
Especially after the return of the World Cup, the Sky Blues have dropped needless points and been extremely unconvincing.
Even against Tottenham, Man City conceded 2 unnecessary goals, which seems to have triggered Pep Guardiola after the clash, when compared to the near-perfect Arsenal.
While City came back from the dead in superb fashion, Mikel Arteta’s side showed against Spurs from start to finish that the gap between them and their North London rivals is massive.
And throughout the season, the Gunners have been the best team in the land, not just in terms of points but performances as well.
That is precisely why Pep Guardiola’s side, who have largely still operated like a world-class side are dependent on the North London club to drop points.
And now, Guardiola, who tends to be commonly diplomatic in post-match interviews has in some ways given Arteta’s side the ultimate compliment.
Pep Guardiola doubts whether Man City can chase Arsenal despite beating Tottenham

After Man City beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night, Pep Guardiola questioned whether his side can catch Arsenal.
“Do you think we are going to chase the gap to Arsenal the way we are playing? No way”, he told BBC Sport’s Shamoon Hafez.
“We have an opponent in Arsenal who have the fire. Two decades without winning the Premier League. I am explaining the reality, everything is so comfortable (at Man City) but opponents don’t wait”, Guardiola said.
Ultimately, Arsenal should not be carried away in any case, even if Pep Guardiola doubts his seasoned Man City side can cut down the gap after beating Tottenham.
