According to Sky Italia, Inter Milan have started discussions with Tottenham to sign Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

The Frenchman joined Spurs last summer for a whopping £53.8 million (BBC) but it seems like his stay in North London has come to an end already.

Jose Mourinho and Ndombele aren’t on the best of terms and the Spurs boss’s decision to leave the former Lyon man on the bench, even when he is fully fit, has left the midfielder allegedly wishing for a move elsewhere.

Inter, like many other clubs, have been hit financially over the last few months. Antonio Conte’s side might not be able to splash the cash on Ndombele this summer but the report claims that they have another plan.

The Nerazzurri will reportedly offer one of Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic or Milan Skriniar in a swap deal, with the latter reportedly their preferred option in the deal.

The Slovakian has had a difficult season under Antonio Conte in Serie A. Skriniar is no longer a must-have for Inter and the Italian giants are willing to part ways with him for £45 million. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Mourinho would love to sign Skriniar after missing out in 2018

A straight swap is what Inter will be looking for between Skriniar and Ndombele this summer. Mourinho would likely be happy with the deal, considering that he wanted to sign the Slovakian when he was at the helm at Manchester United in 2018. (ESPN)

Skriniar is a huge fan of Mourinho too. When Manchester United’s interest in him was relayed by the media, the Inter Milan star heaped praise on the current Spurs boss.

He told ESPN in October 2018: “When some coach like Jose says that he is looking for a player like me or somebody else, it’s always nice. Jose is one of the most famous, best, greatest coaches in the world.” (read more)

With Jan Vertonghen now gone, Tottenham could do with a new defender and Skriniar would be a stunning signing. The Slovakian, still only 26, is already accomplished at the top level and, under Mourinho, he can only get better.
