Tony Cascarino has claimed that Gabriel Jesus would be a ‘great signing’ for Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT.

The former striker added that he feels the Manchester City forward, who worked with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta at the Etihad, is ‘easily a Champions League player’.

Arteta coached Jesus during his days in Manchester City colours and working as Pep Guardiola’s number two, so he knows what the Brazil international is all about.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that Arsenal are keen to sign the 25-year-old this summer, as the Gunners search for a striker following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette.

Given all that talk about Jesus, Cascarino has backed the idea of the player moving to the Emirates Stadium.

“Well, managers love to go back to clubs,” said Cascarino. “I know he was an assistant at Manchester City, but they love to go back to people they worked with.

“He will know and be going that ‘Jesus is a great lad and he has a great mentality. I want to Bring him and I even think I can improve him’.

“He’s easily a Champions League player, so he would be a great signing for Arsenal.”

DOES HAALAND OPEN THE DOOR FOR JESUS TO LEAVE?

Jesus is playing Champions League football and challenging for the Premier title on a regular basis, so from that perspective, it would be hard to lure him away from the club.

But the arrival of Erling Haaland this summer has probably provided those from north London with a bit of a helping hand.

It could see the Brazil star head for the exit door because he searches for that regular game time and he would get that in bucket loads for Arsenal.

But, with Arteta guiding his side to Europa League football during the recently-concluded campaign, could that cost them in signing those elite players? Well, only time will tell.
