Former Lazio teammate Marco Parolo is keen to see ‘great player’ Felipe Anderson return to the Serie A giants after a miserable spell in the Premier League with West Ham United, as he told Sky Italia, via La Lazio Siamo Noi.

And it looks like Parolo’s wish is about to come true.

According to Calciomercato, all roads lead to Rome for a man who played arguably the best football of his career in the sky-blue backdrop of the iconic Stadio Olimpico.

West Ham are set to sell their £80,000-a-week forgotten man for as little as £2 million, just three years after the London giants paid a club-record £36 million for the Brazil international.

28-year-old Anderson, a close friend of former Santos teammate Neymar, will certainly return at Lazio with a point to prove, having fallen out of favour under David Moyes before flopping during a loan spell with Porto.

But long-serving midfielder Parolo, whose own future remains uncertain with his contract expiring, believes Anderson could be a man reborn in familiar surroundings.

Will West Ham misfit Felipe Anderson shine again at Lazio?

“(He’s a) great player. After Lazio, he never managed to explode definitively but he can do great things,” said the former Italy international.

“He knows the environment and what he can give and what is required of a player at Lazio. He could still be the Felipe that we had admired, a little more mature.

“The experiences abroad are formative, even if you don’t find space to be a starter. What’s more, inside you grow the desire to prove yourself even more.”

Anderson’s return may also pave the way for the coveted Joaquin Correa to leave the club he joined from Sevilla back in 2018.

The Argentine international has told Lazio in no uncertain terms that he plans to bid farewell to the Italian capital, with Tottenham Hotspur launching a £25 million bid for a fleet-footed winger Fabio Paratici tried to buy during his time as Juventus’s sporting director.
