Arsenal defender Ben White will likely be available for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Leicester City following an injury update.
Speaking to the press via Football London, Mikel Arteta revealed that the £50m summer signing from Brighton came off against Leeds United in the League Cup due to illness.
The Basque manager explained: “There’s a bug going around. Ben had it for the last day or two. He wasn’t feeling great so we decided to take him off.”
Indeed, the reasoning behind White’s surprise substitution last night led to some supporters theorising that the defender had suffered a physical injury on the pitch.
However, these concerns have been all but debunked following Arteta’s comments. Moreover, it means that White is now likely to play this weekend against Leciester.
Despite coming off, White was excellent against his former side as Arsenal qualified for the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 2-0 win.
Arsenal fans breathe a sigh of relief over White injury

Indeed, this injury update from Arteta was exactly what Arsenal fans needed to hear after White’s surprise exit from last night’s fixture.
Here’s what some Arsenal supporters had to say about White coming off against Leed due to illness rather than injury on Twitter…
