Antonio Conte has named Daniel Levy as a key figure behind his decision to join Tottenham.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Italian manager said Levy’s determination to lure Conte to Spurs was key to the 52-year-old signing for the north London side.

Nuno Espirito Santo left Spurs earlier this week following a 3-0 loss to Manchester United. And with Conte at the helm, Tottenham have now secured one of the biggest and best names in world football.

The former Inter Milan boss was linked with Spurs in the summer. But with Conte only just departing the Italian side, an instant return to management would have been too soon for the Italian coach.

However, after a few months, Conte is now back to return to management. And according to him, the influence of Levy was key to the former Chelsea manager making a stunning and swift return to the Premier League.

Conte said: “The contagious enthusiasm and determination of Daniel Levy in wanting to entrust me with this task had already hit the mark. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to take it with great conviction.”

Persuading Conte to join Tottenham is one thing. But now Levy must be willing and able to financially back the Italian. With the squad in need of a revamp, the 52-year-old has a mammoth task on his hands.

However, with Conte now working alongside Fabio Paratici again, the former Juventus duo could have the tools needed the uphaul the Spurs squad to a level of quality that can challenge for silverware both domestically and continentally.
