Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to West Ham failing with a low bid for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

The Athletic claim that West Ham’s offer for Johnstone was ‘considerably below’ the £10 million asking price set by West Brom, with Arsenal also keen on the former Manchester United academy product.

Johnstone was recently on England duty at Euro 2020, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if talk about his future begins to speed up during these coming weeks.

The 28-year-old, who was relegated with West Brom last season, is probably England’s number two behind Jordan Pickford.

But if he remains at the Hawthorns, and in the Championship, then that won’t last long.

So, that increases his chances of making a Premier League switch this summer, with numerous London clubs keen on his talents.

Arsenal fans think it’s a ‘no brainer’ for them to push for his talents, especially given the fee he could for following the Hammers’ rejected offer.

The North London club are in the market for a new keeper, with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, another English goalkeeper who was relegated, muted as a possible option.

It doesn’t look great for Arsenal that 12 months after selling Emiliano Martinez, they are now fishing that same pond for a keeper to possibly replace Bernd Leno.

But given the number of clubs scrapping for Johnstone’s talents, it probably won’t be too long before he is heading for the exit door at the Hawthorns.

Here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to those West Ham/Johnstone rumours:
