Wesley Fofana joining Chelsea is slowly but surely taking shape.
On Thursday, it was reported that the Leicester City defender had informed the club that he was interested in signing for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Chelsea have had two offers knocked back for the Foxes powerhouse who is valued at £80 million, £10 milion higher than the Blues’ most recent attempt.
However, a CBS journalist has revealed that Brendan Rodgers’s side are ‘open’ to selling the player and that both clubs are in ‘direct talks’ about a transfer.
Ben Jacobs told Give Me Sport: “Leicester are now more open to a sale than they were when Chelsea first started bidding. The good news, from Chelsea’s perspective, is that there are direct talks taking place between them and Leicester.
“Brendan Rodgers has softened his language from ‘not for sale’ to ‘not wanting to sell’ and there’s a key difference between those two stances.”

This would be one hell of a signing for Chelsea, in terms of figures.
However, it would be a mistake for Thomas Tuchel and the Londoners’ hierarchy to spend too much on Fofana if it impedes their capacity to sign other players this summer.
As demonstrated against Spurs last weekend, Tuchel’s side are desperately missing a number nine, someone to score goals rather than prevent them.
And if spending £80 million on Fofana means that less money is available for an attacker then, well, they should proceed with caution.
