Rangers stand on the verge of a memorable title triumph

Speculation linking Steven Gerrard with a return to Anfield refuses to go away.
Jurgen Klopp has at no point suggested that leaving Liverpool is on his agenda, but some have made their minds up that it’s a matter of when and not if Gerrard manages in front of the Kop.
His stock has certainly risen in a hugely impressive season for Rangers. 18 points ahead of rivals Celtic, having won both of this season’s derbies, they now have a chance to seal the title in this season’s third derby on March 21.
Aside from their domestic feats, Rangers have reached the Europa League’s round of 32 for a second successive season. A favourable draw against Slavia Prague means a spot in the competition’s last eight is very much achievable.

The Liverpool legend appears firmly focused on the task at hand, but former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes he’ll be heading south as soon as Klopp vacates the premises.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “Let’s have it right, Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool next month and Steven Gerrard is offered the job, is he going to turn around and say ‘I’m staying at Rangers‘?
“He will be out the door quicker than a quick thing from Quickland. He will be going to Liverpool.
“The reality of where is right now if he is doing a job, when Rangers gave him a contract to 2024, please don’t tell me that was an expectation that they were going to continue to finish second.
“Steven Gerrard has done the job that Rangers brought him in to do. They have given him the tools to do it.

“I am in the camp he has done the job he was brought into do.
“At the same time he has the added benefit, with due respect, to see a marked decline in Celtic so he has capitalised on that, he has done the job he was brought into do.
“He wasn’t brought into to make Rangers finish second any longer.”
