Liverpool announced a new contract for Mohamed Salah on Friday.
The Egypt international drew a line under his future by committing himself to the Reds after signing a ‘long-term’ extension on Merseyside.
Salah has been one of Europe’s best players since joining Liverpool back in 2017.
And the fact that he’s no longer contracted to the club until next summer is a weight off everyone’s mind.
One player who is still set to leave Liverpool on a Bosman in 12 months is Naby Keita.
The former Red Bull Leipzig midfielder is one of several players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad to have contracts expiring next summer, along with Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
In June, The Times claimed that Liverpool’s owners FSG were in talks with Keita over a new deal.
And Jose Enrique has stated on Twitter that he believes it’ll be announced very shortly.
Enrique touched on Firmino’s future at Liverpool but according to The Mirror, FSG will also be speaking to the Brazil international about his career at Anfield.
As mentioned, the former Hoffenheim hitman is also out of contract next summer but with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota potentially ahead of him in the pecking order, signing an extension seems unlikely.
Klopp has already lost Sadio Mane this summer and losing Firmino – two-thirds of the famous trident which won the Champions League and Premier League for Liverpool – would be additionally devastating.
But the club have effectively indicated that Firmino doesn’t have much a role going forward, after breaking their transfer record to sign Nunez, and a departure for the former wouldn’t be entirely surprising.
