Liverpool are in talks with Naby Keita over a new contract, according to The Times.
The report has claimed that Liverpool want to extend the current deal of Keita.
The Guinea international midfielder is out of contract at the Reds in the summer of 2023.
The Times have reported that Keita is ‘expected to renew’ his contract and extend his stay at Anfield.
Is Liverpool’s Naby Keita decision make sensible?
In our view, Liverpool’s decision to extend Naby Keita’s current contract is a bit strange.
The 27-year-old cost Liverpool £48 million in transfer fees, but the midfielder has struggled with injury problems and is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.

Now, we know that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp likes Keita.
Klopp described the midfielder as “an exceptional footballer” in The Mirror in March 2022.
However, it does not seem likely that Keita, linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, will get ahead of Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson in the pecking order anytime soon.
So, maybe Liverpool are just extending the 27-year-old’s contract to keep their squad big and competitive.
Keita has scored seven goals in 76 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
