Some Sheffield United supporters think the writing could be on the wall for one of their players, who has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.
Luke Freeman is one of the United players being suggested as a possible makeweight in the Blades’ attempts to sign Matty Cash from Forest (Daily Mirror).
There had been reports of interest in Freeman from the City Ground in January (Sun), but the attacking midfielder stayed put at Bramall Lane.
He played just twice more in the Premier League, however, and, based on the following tweet by Sheffield United earlier this week, may have lost his number 8 shirt to Sander Berge.
Whether Berge has officially switched digits remains to be seen.
But, as far as the following Sheffield United fans are concerned, Freeman’s days are numbered.
It was reported last week that United had actually lowered their £6 million offer for Cash to £4m plus Nottingham Forest’s pick of two squad players.
West Ham United and several other Premier League clubs are also said to be chasing Cash, who can play out wide, in central midfield or, as he did for much of last season, as a wing-back.

It is not thought that Freeman, a left-footed winger or number 10, would be a direct replacement for the Forest talent.
