Darragh MacAnthony has said that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool should try to sign Moises Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Peterborough United chairman has said on talkSPORT (11:28am, July 24, 2023) that Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), should “go and get” Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo for manager Jurgen Klopp this summer.

MacAnthony is a Liverpool fan.

Liverpool have been linked with Caicedo in the summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, talkSPORT reported that Liverpool are looking at the 21-year-old Ecuador international midfielder as a potential replacement for England international midfielder Jordan Henderson, who is about to move to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea, though, seem more determined than Liverpool to get a deal done for Caicedo now.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has reported on Twitter that Chelsea are planning to make a new bid for the youngster, who is valued at £100 million by Brighton.

MacAnthony said about Caicedo: “I want Liverpool to go and get him, you know, after losing two more midfielders.”

Liverpool unlikely to sign Moises Caicedo

In our opinion, Liverpool are unlikely to be able to sign Moises Caicedo in the summer transfer window.

Brighton and Hove Albion are looking for as much as £100 million in transfer fees for Caicedo.

There is no way that Liverpool are going to pay that sum, and that too for a player who is only 21 and has had just one good season in the Premier League.

Caicedo made 34 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Brighton last season.

The 21-year-old scored one goal and gave one assist in those games.

Moreover, it seems that Chelsea are more keen on Caicedo than Liverpool and are about to make a new bid.

We believe that Liverpool will not be able to bring the youngster to Anfield this summer.
