Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were interested in eight Premier League players during the January transfer window.
Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the Daily Mail that he targeted eight new players during the January transfer window, only to find out that they were on more money than his side were willing to pay.
Rangers tried to use the loan market to good effect last month, as they brought in both Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral from Bournemouth and Arsenal respectively.

However, Rangers were frustrated in many of their other pursuits of Premier League players.

Warburton was interested in signing many other players, including Reece Oxford from West Ham United, but could not get deals over the line due to their wage demands.
Warburton admits signing he’d love to make at Rangers… but he simply can’t
“We went after a couple of players for loan deals and we found out they were in excess of 25 to 30 grand a week – and there’s a clutch of eight to ten clubs prepared to pay full wages. It’s incredible,” Warburton said.
“You have 21-year-old players down there on up to £25k a week. That is fact.”
Rangers’ only other addition, on top of Hyndman and Toral, was Jak Alnwick, who the Ibrox side brought in on a permanent transfer from Port Vale.

Of the trio of new recruits, Hyndman has had the most impact so far – scoring twice in his first few appearances for Rangers.
The Light Blues are currently in third place in the Scottish Premiership table, after a poor run of results.
Rangers are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup.
