Borussia Monchengladbach director Roland Virkus admitted that the Bundesliga outfit will ‘talk’ to Burnley if Vincent Kompany wishes to keep Jordan Beyer at Turf Moor beyond this season, speaking to RP

There may not be an option-to-buy clause in Beyer’s contract, but that doesn’t mean the 22-year-old centre-half is destined to depart when his loan deal runs out.

Germany U21 international Beyer admitted in January that he is ‘really happy’ at Turf Moor. Potentially opening the door to a long-term stay.

And while he has plenty of admirers back home at Borussia Park, Monchengladbach have sufficient cover at centre-half to ensure they can cash in on Beyer without being left short in defence.

Will Jordan Beyer stay at Burnley?

“We have a good defence with good back-ups,” Virkus explains. “When he played, he usually did. (But) he was often injured. Jordan needed more toughness, so the Championship with over 40 games is perfect.

“I know Burnley manager Vincent Kompany quite well. So, it’s a win-win situation. He’s playing brilliantly, and Burnley are probably going up.

“I would be happy if he comes back to Gladbach as a more experienced player. And if Burnley possibly want to sign him permanently, then we have to talk if necessary.”

Beyer has featured 17 times for a Burnley side cruising at the top of the Championship table; a near-20 point advantage between the Clarets and third-place Middlesbrough. The one-time Hamburg defender, then, may find it difficult to turn down the opportunity of Premier League football.

“We’d be happy if he returns. But it’s not always about what we want,” Virkus adds. “(If we sell him), we would be happy to have coached a Premier League player. Our tears would be dried by a transfer fee.”
