AIK defender Erick Otieno is pleased to have caught the eye of Premier League giants Leicester and Manchester City, while speaking to Fotbol Direkt.
Nigerian speed-machine Akinkunmi Amoo was not the only reason why two of England’s biggest clubs sent their scouts to Sweden last week, it seems.
Amoo’s Hammarby side took on Allsvenskan rivals AIK in a crunch clash and the 18-year-old winger was not the only one being watched from the sidelines.
Fotbol Direkt reports that Otieno, a Kenya international left-back, has also caught the eye of both Leicester and Manchester City ahead of what could be a lifechanging switch to a bona fide Premier League powerhouse.
Nairobi-born Otieno is only seven games into his AIK career but, already, the Stockholm-based outfit are facing a challenging holding onto one of their most gifted players.
“It gives me motivation to continue working hard,” the 24-year-old explained when asked to reflect on Leicester and Manchester City’s interest.
“For hard work is what attracts them, one who works hard and does good things.

“I did not know in advance (that they were scouting me). This is the first I hear about foreign clubs.”
Otieno is not the only little-known left-back to be linked with runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side are also rumoured to be interested in Groningen’s Gabriel Gudmundsson; a buccaneering Swede with a magnificent cross in his locker.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, has often fielded the right-footed James Justin and Timothy Castagne on the left-hand side this season.
