Premier League trio Leicester, Brighton and Manchester City sent scouts to watch Hammarby winger Akinkunmi Amoo at the weekend, as reported by Aftonbladet.
If that name seems slightly familiar to Man City fans, nagging away at your subconscious, there’s a good reason.
In 2019, AllNigeriaSoccer reported Pep Guardiola’s side was keen to snap up an exciting young forward who had shot to fame with Nigeria during the U17 World Cup.
City failed to get a deal over the line back then – with work permit issues proving a sizeable stumbling block – but things could be very different two years on.
Amoo is now plying his trade in Europe, joining Swedish outfit Hammarby in 2020. It must be said, however, new Brexit regulations may not make the task of signing him any easier.
Nonetheless, Aftonbladet reports Manchester City are still keeping tabs on their long-time transfer target, scouting Amoo during an Allsvenskan clash with AIK on Sunday.

The “exceptional” Amoo has produced five goals in nine games this season, although he was unable to add to that impressive tally in front of the Premier League talent-spotters.
The report adds that scouts working on behalf of Leicester and Brighton were also present at the Friends Arena in Stockholm.
Speaking last week, however, Hammarby chief scout Mikael Hjelmberg insisted the club had no plans to sell Amoo this summer. He added if the winger was to leave the club, he would become the most expensive export in Hammarby’s history with his price tag already at a minimum £3.5 million.
