Gillingham’s star man is reportedly angling for a move away and what better place than Leeds United?

Leeds United have barely put a foot wrong in the recruitment stakes since Garry Monk took over in the summer. From cult heroes Pontus Jansson and Pablo Hernandez to astute, understated additions in Luke Ayling and Kyle Bartley, the days of unknown Italian imports shipped in and shipped out with barely a kick of the ball appear over.

And the Daily Mail reports that Leeds could yet secure another intelligent, albeit surprising, signing in the final hours of the transfer window. Gillingham talisman Bradley Dack took League One by storm last season and, the Mail claim, he would be interested in stepping up a level with Leeds in January.

An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Dack’s mantelpiece would have been at risk of collapse on the back of a trophy laden 2015/16 campaign, at least on an individual basis.

Ex-fans favourite reportedly made available; should Leeds United bring him home?

League One Player of the Year, Gillingham Player of the Year, Players Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and a place in the Football League Team of the Season to boot; that’s what 15 goals from midfield gets you.

Consequently, the summer appeared the ideal time to make the logical step to a higher level but, in the first half of the current campaign, his form has faltered by comparison. He only has three goals to show for 22 appearances with The Gills mired in mid-table.

Therefore, doubts persist about what sort of impact he could have on a settled Leeds side, especially arriving mid-season and rather out of form. However, at 23, he has plenty of time for improvement and, under Garry Monk, he’ll find a manager who’s making quite a habit of honing his player’s potential into weekly consistency.

Do stats show Leeds United should swap on-loan favourite for Premier League ace?

Furthermore, although his golden touch has gone missing of late, Dack’s potency could prove invaluable to a Leeds side lacking goals from midfield.
