FIFA President Gianni Infantino is exploring a multibillion-dollar scheme to restructure ownership of world soccer’s biggest competitions.

A major shake-up is potentially on the horizon with FIFA and Gianni Infantino by forming a commercial venture to run FIFA’s top tournaments, including the World Cup and Club World Cup.

The plan involves selling off a 20% to 30% minority stake to Wall Street heavyweights like JP Morgan and Joshua Kushner, while offering each of FIFA’s 211 member nations a $20 million slice.

🚨 Reminder, FIFA are set to investigate what happened after the final

Crucially, figures tied to Donald Trump’s administration have been consulted on the deal after the success of the most recent World Cup edition in North America.

One of the most interesting parts is that the influx of private capital could fuel further tournament expansion or lead to more frequent events.

Gianni Infantino set for potential $64 million pay day

A report from The Times has detailed the ins and outs of Gianni Infantino‘s latest plans.

Infantino’s role could be to become the commissioner or chief executive of the new company, once his last presidential term expires in 2031.

While the exact compensation for the role hasn’t been finalized, sources indicate it could match the NFL commissioner’s salary of around $64 million annually. That figure would represent a ten-fold jump from Infantino’s current FIFA earnings, including bonuses.

His current annual compensation package from FIFA stands at roughly $6 million. According to FIFA’s official financial disclosures, his earnings consist of a base annual salary of $3.3 million, which has remained steady, paired with a performance-based bonus of around $2.8 million.
