Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Chelsea need to ‘get rid’ of Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Romelu Lukaku, this summer, as he told talkSPORT.

It has been a season of struggle for Lukaku following his big-money return to Chelsea last summer, with the striker scoring 15 goals in all competitions this term.

To put that into context, Heung-Min Son, who doesn’t take penalties, nor does he play a central role for Spurs, scored 23 goals in the Premier League alone – and, as a result, walked away with the Golden Boot award.

Despite that, it hasn’t stopped rumours from surfacing that Antonio Conte, who got the best out of Lukaku when they won the Serie A title with Inter Milan, wants to reunite with the player this summer.

Whatever happens, Agbonlahor feels that Lukaku has ‘lost the fans’ at Chelsea and he needs to leave.

“I feel Chelsea need to get rid of him,” said Agbonlahor. “Him and Thomas Tuchel, you can tell they don’t see eye-to-eye.

“After that interview, I feel like he has lost the fanbase. He doesn’t look happy. He doesn’t look sharp.

“Inter aren’t going to pay that £90 million back. Maybe a loan? For both parties, I think he needs to get back to Inter or another club.”

WOULD LUKAKU JOINING CONTE AT SPURS WORK?

The rumours of Conte wanting to bring Lukaku to the other side of London just won’t go away.

The first issue the Italian has is that both Chelsea and Tottenham don’t exactly see eye-to-eye, not just out not the pitch, in the stands, but in the boardroom as well.

The last man to get the best out of the Belgian was Conte, so could the same happen again?

But how will it work? Would Conte play both Harry Kane and Lukaku together? Because if he’s so adamant in wanting his former player, then it’s not to sit him on the bench because he’s already doing that at Stamford Bridge.
