Earlier this week, we covered a report from Calciomercato.it claiming that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has turned down the chance to join Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Calciomercato.it reported that Lukaku will leave only for his former club Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.

However, a new report today has suggested that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte is simply not giving up on signing the 29-year-old striker with whom he won the Serie A title with Inter in 2020-21.

Corriere dello Sport (print edition, page 10, June 4, 2022) have reported that Conte considers Lukaku a ‘pivotal player’ in his quest to challenge for the Premier League and compete in the Champions League.

The Belgium international striker is reportedly Conte’s number one target to reinforce his attack.

Could Chelsea sell Romelu Lukaku to Tottenham Hotspur?

In our view, Chelsea are unlikely to be willing to do a deal with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea and Tottenham are bitter London rivals.

Moreover, Lukaku is a world-class striker, and him moving to Tottenham and playing alongside Harry Kane would make Spurs stronger.

That is something that Chelsea will surely not want.
