Some Newcastle United fans on social media have been reacting after Paulo Fonseca was named as a candidate to replace Steve Bruce.

Fonseca is apparently on Newcastle’s final shortlist of managers they could appoint, and now, two Sky Sports News journalists have stated on Twitter that he’s a contender to take over.

Understandably, this news has sparked something of a reaction from the Newcastle fanbase, and it’s fair to say they’re excited.

To be honest, it doesn’t seem as though Newcastle supporters are all that enamoured with Fonseca as much as they are excited to see someone in the dugout who isn’t named Steve Bruce.

Bruce’s departure from St James’ Park was announced on Wednesday morning.

To say that Bruce was unpopular in the eyes of some Newcastle fans would be an understatement, and while Fonseca is a relative unknown at this level, fans are still keen for him to be appointed as soon as possible.

Whether or not Fonseca is the man for the Magpies remains to be seen, but fans are seemingly keen to see him come in.

Here’s what Newcastle fans have been saying on social media…
