Warren Barton has told Arsenal to go and sign ‘both’ Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans and Valencia’s rising star, Yunus Musah, as he told the Highbury Squad.

Mikel Arteta’s side could be busy during the January transfer window, from trying to sort out their issue of dealing with Gabriel Jesus’ injury, but also providing themselves with a helping hand as they push to win the Premier League title.

Whilst there isn’t any issue with the midfield three – captain Martin Odegaard, the transformed Granit Xhaka and the hard-hitting, Thomas Partey.

If they get injured, especially the latter, then fans do start to worry about what is the next cab off the rank and they probably won’t enjoy the ride if that individual is brought in.

That’s why some Gooners are calling for added depth in the midfield area, with Tielemans out of contract at Leicester in the summer and former Hale-End star Musah, now dubbed the ‘real deal’ ahead of a possible return to north London.

Nonetheless, former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell stated that if he had to pick between Tielemans and Musah, he would pick the Foxes star because he is ‘proven’, but this is how former Newcastle man Barton responded to his comments.

“Get both,” said Barton. “Go and get both of them.”

DEFENSIVE-MINDED PLAYER NEEDED

In terms of the Odegaard role, Arsenal have summer signing Fabio Vieira to fill that role, as well as the returning, Emile Smith Rowe.

If Xhaka was out of action for one reason or another, then there is Oleksandr Zinchenko, who can cover and probably a higher quality.

But if Partey’s not playing, then there are issues, that’s why, if Arsenal do sign a midfielder, then they need to bring someone that thinks defensive in the first instance, the second instance and the third instance.
