Tottenham find themselves embroiled in chaos at the moment as drama surrounding Fabio Paratici follows the departure of Antonio Conte.

The Italian – who works as Director of Football at Spurs – has seen his ban from football in his homeland extended worldwide by FIFA, just hours after Tottenham plastered him all over their official website to offer clarification to supporters on the club’s next steps.

Now, Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic has shared his thoughts on the bizarre situation.

What’s the story?

Well, despite Paratici’s 30-month ban from football operations extending worldwide, Tottenham have stuck by their Sporting Director, revealing in an official statement that they will seek further clarification from FIFA.

Spurs fans are baffled by that decision from Daniel Levy, with many confused as to why the north Londoners are being so loyal to Paratici when most other sides would have sacked him by now.

After publishing a detailed analysis of the situation, Pitt-Brooke, Tottenham’s correspondent for The Athletic, tweeted: “Must admit I am genuinely surprised that when Tottenham finally spoke about this issue tonight, they missed yet another opportunity to get rid of Paratici. What do they gain by staying this loyal to him? What’s the upside here that I am missing?”

It really is a strange situation.

Tottenham must get rid of Paratici now

In our view, Levy has to hand Paratici his P45.

The 50-year-old is simply not worth the hassle, and Tottenham cannot afford to wait and see if FIFA make any changes to their decision.

Paratici’s ban means he is unable to actually do his job, at a time where Spurs need a Director of Football more than they have at any point in recent years.

Tottenham are without a manager, Harry Kane is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, and major decisions need to be made regarding recruitment after an underwhelming campaign.

The longer Levy sticks by Paratici, the less time Spurs have to deal with these issues.
