Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports that Anthony Martial should leave Manchester United, amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
Manchester United forward Martial’s agent has told Sky Sports that the France international wants to leave in the January transfer window.
Tottenham and Newcastle interest in Martial
The Daily Star reported in July 2021 that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign the 26-year-old in the summer of 2021.
The Mirror claimed in October 2021 that Newcastle’s new owner PIF want to sign Martial.
Gary Neville’s advice
Former United star Neville believes that it is time for Martial to move on.
Neville said on on Sky Sports, as transcribed by The Mirror: “I think that now the time has come.
“I think Manchester United have always been wary of getting burned, of him leaving for £25m and then going on to become a £100m player because he is a special talent.
“I just don’t think he’ll ever work at Old Trafford to the extent they’ve got Rashford, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani, other players as well.
“I just think now is the time for him to leave and go and play regular football so I think it’s the right time.”

Leaving Manchester United
Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
There are not too many clubs who are a step-up from the Red Devils.
However, in our opinion, Martial needs to leave United and find a club where he can flourish.
The 26-year-old, who can play out wide or down the middle, is not guaranteed a place in the United starting lineup.
Martial has made only two starts in the Premier League and just one start in the Champions League so far this season.
In our view, a move to Spurs or Newcastle could revive Martial.
Harry Kane is not having the best of season at Tottenham, and Martial could find himself with playing time.
Newcastle have lofty ambitions for the future under PIF, and Martial could be a key figure in the coming years.
