Philippe Lamboley – the agent of Anthony Martial – has revealed that his client wants to leave Manchester United, following interest from Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, this is very big news, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham react to it.

Speaking on behalf of the £36m forward, Lamboley told Sky Sports: “Anthony wishes to leave the club in January. He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

So far this season, Martial has only made two Premier League starts as neither Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick take a shine to him.

It comes after the 26-year-old scored just four Premier League goals in 22 appearances last term.

Furthermore, the £73m arrival of Jadon Sancho has pushed Martial further down the pecking order, and he’s now desperate to leave Old Trafford.

Should Tottenham sign Anthony Martial?

Back in July, the Daily Star claimed that Manchester United wanted to sell Martial, and Tottenham were interested in signing him.

However, Daniel Levy was not interested in entertaining the £50m fee, nor Martial’s £250,000-a-week wages.

Now, after his agent revealed he wants to leave, that £50m fee should reduce significantly as Manchester United’s negotiating stance takes a hit.

If Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici can get that sum down to around £25m or £30m, we feel it would be worth bringing the Frenchman to N17.

Martial’s career has stalled, but he’s still only 26 and has proven himself to be an electric forward when in good rhythm.

It’s clear that Conte needs a new forward. Steven Bergwijn is showing no signs of a redemption season under the Italian, and even Harry Kane only has one Premier League goal this season.

If Spurs can also get Martial to take a pay cut, we think he’d be a huge success at Tottenham – only time will tell what happens.
