Gary Neville has given his take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool potentially beating Manchester City to the Premier League title this season after watching them lose to Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Liverpool suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

It was a hugely controversial game.

And, Liverpool lost only because of an own goal from Joel Matip in injury time.

Manchester City also lost on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side went down 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home.

City are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 18 points from seven matches.

Liverpool are fourth with 16 points from seven games.

Gary Neville on Liverpool challenging for Premier League title

Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville does not think that Liverpool will challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The pundit said about Liverpool on his podcast: “I don’t think, I don’t think, they will challenge for the title, is my honest opinion.

“I think that their midfield is better and has settled in quicker than I thought it would, but I still think there will be challenges.

“They haven’t got a true holding player.”

Liverpool are in the title race

I believe that Liverpool will challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Now, Manchester City are the clear favourites for the championship.

And, in my view, Arsenal will push City hard.

But, Liverpool are very much in the race for the title.

The Reds have a very good team and have a brilliant attacking unit.

Yes, there are issues in defence, but every team has room for improvement.

Liverpool are winning matches and are playing well at the moment.
